How chef.eu collects, uses and protects your personal data.

Last updated 25 September 2026

What we collect

Chef.eu is operated by Chef.eu OÜ, registry code 17558203, VAT number EE103011954, Ahtri tn 12, 15551 Tallinn, Estonia, the data controller for the personal data described here, reachable at [email protected]. We collect the information you give us when you create an account, submit an event request, apply as a chef, or contact support: your name, email address, phone number, event details (date, address, guest count, dietary notes), and any messages or photos you share on the platform.

How we use it

We use your data to run the marketplace: matching your event request with chefs in your city, exchanging proposals and messages, sending the notifications you opted into, and improving the service. We never sell your personal data.

Who can see it

Chefs see the details of event requests in their city (never your contact details before a booking is confirmed). Guests see chef profiles as published. Our staff can access data where needed for support.

Payments & analytics

Payments are processed by Stripe, our payment service provider: your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers, and we share with Stripe only what is needed to process your payment. Website analytics run on Pageviews Analytics, a privacy-friendly service that gives us aggregated usage statistics.

Data retention & your rights

You can export a copy of your data or delete your account at any time from your account settings. On deletion, your personal data is anonymised; records we must keep for legal reasons are retained only as long as required. For any privacy question, contact [email protected].

Chef identity verification

Chefs who apply to cook via chef.eu complete an identity check: a scan of an identity document, a selfie with a liveness and face-match check, and screening against sanctions lists. This check is performed by our identity verification provider Didit, which processes the document and selfie solely to verify identity. Chef.eu stores only the result of the check, never your document images or biometric data.

Automatic translation

Texts written by chefs on their public profiles (such as the introduction and tagline) may be translated automatically into the language you are browsing in. Before translation, we remove personal data such as email addresses, phone numbers and street addresses from the text. The remaining text is processed by our AI provider Anthropic (Claude) solely to produce the translation and is not used to train AI models. Translations are always marked as automatic and the original text remains available on the page.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for login sessions and security; these need no consent. With your consent, Google Ads cookies measure whether our advertising brought you to chef.eu and help show you relevant ads (Google Ireland Ltd., which may transfer data outside the EEA under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses). You choose in the cookie banner on your first visit and can change your mind at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. If you decline, Google receives only anonymous, cookieless signals that cannot identify you. Our website analytics (Pageviews) are cookie-free and anonymised.
